Overview
Ornithine Ketoglutarate… Don’t let your body choose its own growth rate.
Ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate (OKG) is a salt formed from the amino acid ornithine, and the organic acid alpha-ketoglutarate.
Ornithine itself has the ability to stimulate human growth
hormone secretion. It is used for building muscle and improving
athletic performance, for accelerating growth in children with
growth hormone deficiencies, and for boosting immunity during
periods of trauma or stress.
OKG can, in addition, shift the balance between the synthesis and breakdown of muscle protein toward synthesis — that is,
it has anabolic effects.
Ornithine ketoglutarate therefore has the following applications:
- stimulating the body to make growth hormone
- accelerating growth in children whose growth is stunted
- improving nutritional status in malnourished patients (especially burn and trauma patients)
- speeding wound closure for pressure ulcers
- building muscle
- improving athletic performance
- boosting immunity.
It makes no sense to leave your body’s growth to chance. Left to its own devices, your body probably will disappoint you.
If you want it to grow to a certain size, or want certain tissues to grow faster, take charge and make it happen!
